{September 26, 1952 - to - February 4, 2021}

Henry "Burt" Cothern, 68, of Walls, Mississippi passed away Thursday evening, February 4, 2021. Burt was born on September 26, 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee to Henry and Juanita (Bell) Cothern. He graduated from Westwood High School in 1970 and began work as an Apprentice Residential Electrician at Jet Electric followed by Best Electric. He continued his career at Mid-South Electric from 1976 to current as an Industrial Electrician and Estimator.

Burt married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth in 1972. He was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church for over 30 years and is presently a member of DeSoto Hills Baptist Church. He loved Jesus and shared God's love through service as a choir member, coaching men and women's church softball teams, teaching Sunday School and serving as a Deacon. He was a huge fan of the University of Memphis Tigers and the Chicago Cubs. He loved to read, fish, deer hunt, golf and being surrounded by family. One of his greatest joys were his grandchildren. He loved being their "Grumpy".

Burt is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Cothern along with four children, Jason Cothern and his wife Christy, Joshua Cothern and his wife Carla, Joanna Williams and her husband Johnny and Joy Cothern; (7)seven grandchildren, Dalton, Samantha, Malachi, Jackson, Mason, Madison and Mya; as well as in-laws; Joe Sorensen; Debbie Cothern; Buford and Joan Castle; Glynn and Jean Castle; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Juanita, sister, Ann Sorensen and brother, John Cothern.

Visitation was held at DeSoto Hills Baptist Church - 4680 Getwell Rd. - Southaven, Mississippi on Sunday - February 7, 2021 from 3 pm until 5 pm. Funeral Service was at DeSoto Hills Baptist Church on Monday - February 8, 2021 at 12 pm. Interment followed at New Bethlehem Cemetery.
