{August 29, 1951 - June 20, 2019} Carolyn Strickland Sullivan, age 67 of Puryear, TN, passed from this life on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Carolyn was born August 29, 1951, in Memphis, TN, to the late
Allen Odell Strickland and the late Gracie Ivey Strickland.
She retired after many years as a geologist for the state of Tennessee. Carolyn lived in many different states during her lifetime and got to see much of the United States. Some of her favorite states were Alaska because of the gold-panning, and Nevada for the opal-mining. She enjoyed fishing, painting, and gardening. She was a member of Puryear Baptist Church. She is survived by four children, Toni (Alex) Sopel of Moon Township, PA, Summer Sullivan of Puryear, TN, Autumn (Jordan) Smith of Martin, TN, and Sladen Sullivan of Puryear, TN; one sister, Beverly Ridgewell of Dade City, FL; eight grandchildren, Alexander Campbell, Alora Cambell, Riley Smith, Lucas Smith, Kennix Smith, Sophia Sopel, Shane Sopel, and Natalia Sopel; and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Brandy Sullivan; and one brother, David Strickland. Arrangements were handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. Visitation were Saturday, June 22, 2019, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service at 5:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Scotty Sorrells, Kylan Mann, and Chad Kennedy officiating. |
