White River Junction, VT- Dale D. Lucas, 70, died Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care Center in Lebanon, NH after a long illness.

Dale Was born July 1, 1948 in Memphis, TN., a son of James D. and Gladys Inez(King) Lucas. He grew up in Memphis graduating from Westwood High School Class of 1966. Soon after graduation Dale enlisted in the US Army where he was trained as an x-ray technician. After his honorable discharge Dale held various jobs while in California moving soon after to Manchester, MA. and later to White river Jct., VT. He was married to Naomi Carlson in July 26, 1983. Dale and Naomi acquired Cactus Jack's in 1997 and the Upper Valley Fun and Games in 1999. During that time Dale re-certified as an x-ray technician and worked at Dartmouth Hitchcock for 10 years before leaving to run Upper Valley Fun and Games. He and his wife ran their businesses as a couple until 2013 when they closed due to their failing health. Dale was a strong supporter of the Special Olympics volunteering the use of the bowling center for some of the games. He especially enjoyed running the programs in the center for special needs as well as providing a fun and enjoyable experience for all that came in.

He is survived by two daughters, Amy Carol Stanley of Athens, AL and Jamie Lucas of Peabody, MA; one grandson, one granddaughter and one great granddaughter; two sisters Karen Ward of Strafford, VT. and Michelle Richerson of Claremont, NH; two brothers, Bruce Lucas of Windsor, VT. and Michael Lucas of Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Dale is preceded in death by his beloved wife Naomi Lucas and a stepson Obediah M. Stevens.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction at 2pm.
