Jackie Ray Arnold, 53, passed from this life on Sunday, June 29, 2003, at the DeKalb Baptist Medical Center in Fort Payne, Ala. He was a resident of Fort Payne, Ala., and a former resident of Iuka. He was a deacon and member of New Salem Baptist Church in Iuka. He was a graduate of Westwood High School in Memphis and Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville. Jackie was a Sergeant in the US Air Force and a Vietnam Veteran.

For 18 years he was employed as a graphic illustrator with Heil Environmental, working at both the Tishomingo and the Fort Payne plants. He enjoyed woodcarving, painting, drawing, and spending time with his granddaughter.

Jackie was the husband of Jolene Carlisle Arnold, married March 4, 1978. The father of Amy Rebecca Arnold Mince and Jacob Ryan Arnold. The grandfather of Molly Rebecca Mince, and Jaxon Reid Arnold.

Survivors include his wife, Jolene Carlisle Arnold of Fort Payne, Ala.; his mother, Bonnie Mae Arnold of Cartersville, Ga., formerly of Iuka; a son, Jacob Ryan Arnold of Fort Payne, Ala.; a daughter, Amy Arnold Mince and husband, Brian, of Fort Payne, Ala.; a brother, Tim Arnold of Cartersville, Ga.; a granddaughter, Molly Rebecca Mince of Fort Payne; a step grandson, Damon Mince of Fort Payne; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Talmadge "Grute" Arnold, and a brother, Jimmy Warren Arnold.

Pallbearers were Gerry Sparks, Tommy Williams, Steve Smith, Ronnie Flannagan, Tom Wendorf and Johnny Moses.

Memorial Services were 2 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Ed Kennedy and Bro. Ted Vafeas officiating. Burial was in North Crossroads Community Church Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka was in charge of the arrangements.
