      James Rayford Anthony, Sr. was born April 21, 1948, to John Russell and Mable Mathis Anthony, formerly of Memphis, Tennessee. James graduated from Westwood High School in Memphis Tennessee in 1967, along with his high school sweetheart, Patricia Johansen. They were married on July 8, 1967. They raised their family in the general area of Memphis and Tupelo, Ms., until they later moved to Bethel, Ohio where they lived until James passed away on May 21, 2015.

      James is survived by his wife, Patti Johansen Anthony; a son, James R. Anthony Jr.; a daughter, Tammy Anthony Durm, with (husband Jeff); grandchildren, Jacque and Riley Anthony, Jackson, and Sam Durm; two brothers, Claude Anthony, and Mark Anthony; a sister, Jeanette Anthony Whitehead; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Russell Anthony, and Mable Mathis Anthony.

      Visitation was held at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main Street, (St. Rt. 125) Amelia, Ohio on Sunday from 2-4pm. Later in Memphis, Tennessee, the family received friends on Wednesday, May 27 from 12 - 2 p.m. with services at 2 p.m., all at Forest Hill Funeral Home Midtown in Memphis, Tn. Interment followed in Forest Hill Midtown Cemetery, Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Midtown.
