James Vincent

James Michael Vincent, 78, was a long time resident of Pasadena, Texas. He passed away on February 19, 2013, of complications from Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Indianola, Mississippi, on March 31, 1934, to Tony Vincent, Sr. and Vera Huckabee Vincent.

James was a good athlete, lettering in football, basketball, and baseball during high school. He achieved All American status in football. Because of his athletic talent, he received a football scholarship to Mississippi State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.

In 1967, James and his family moved to Texas, to manage the family hardware and lumber company, Golden Triangle Lumber Co. in South Houston. However, he never stopped loving teaching. He returned to the classroom, substituted teaching in the Pasadena School District for 15 years.

James is survived by Jackie, his wife of 52 years. He is also survived by his three daughters and their families: Cherylynn and her husband, Mike, of Centerville, Texas; Gwen and Don of Pasadena, Texas, and Alicia and Her Husband Philip of Montgomery, Texas. Grandchildren include: Amanda, and her husband, Shane: Chris, Taylor, Colton, Ashton and Toby .He also has one great -grandchild, Victoria. He is also survived by three siblings, Marie Landing, Leonard Vincent, and Peter Vincent. He also had numerous nieces and nephews..

Visitation were held on February 22, 2013 at 11:30 at The Forest Park East Cemetery located at 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster Texas. Graveside services followed.
