Marvin Virgil Neely, 63, of Olive Branch, MS formerly of Memphis, passed from this life to his heavenly home on October 8, 2009. Marvin was born in Memphis, TN on October 6, 1946 the youngest of the eight children of Money V. Neely and Romalee Sanders Neely. He was a graduate of Westwood High School in 1964 and Memphis State University.

After a brief career at the I.C.R.R., Marvin spent 20 years in shopping center development and management with M.V. National Properties, The Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation and Poag, Thomason and Neely Management Company. For the last seven years he had the pleasure of working with his friend of more than 60 years, Meredith “Joe” Escue as an Architectural Services Representative. He was a member of Central Church in Collierville, TN where he taught 5 and 6 year olds about the love of Jesus in Sunday School.

Marvin leaves his wife Sherry Culver Neely, two daughters Tammy DeLynn Ward of Missouri City, TX and Savannah Marie Brown of Starkville, MS; two grandsons Danan Ward and Alex Ward of Missouri City, TX who were the joys of his life. He leaves two sisters Lula Worley of Byhalia, MS and Ruby Donathan of Oakland, TN. He is preceded in death by his brothers Leander H. Neely, Shelby L. Neely, Hubert A. Neely and Jody V. Neely and a sister Dorothy Jones. He also leaves 16 nieces and nephews along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of friends he loved dearly. Marvin knew no greater joy than spending time with his family; from his early years of fishing and hunting with his father and brothers to annual holiday gatherings and family reunions, he cherished each moment. His greatest joys these last years were his time spent with his family and his grandsons traveling, fishing, and hunting. He loved teaching his grandsons about life and Jesus Christ.

Visitations were held from 5-8:00pm on Friday, October 9, 2009, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 2:00pm, on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Central Church 2005 Winchester Rd. Collierville, TN 38017.

Marvin requested that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Children Ministries at Central Church.
