Melba Lee Goodman Williams, of Olive Branch, MS, at the age of 61, passed from this life Thursday, February 12, 2009 at her home. She fought a long hard battle with cancer. When told how long her life expectancy, in her condition, would be, she said, "Well, I'm gonna give it all I've got until that time would come". She did outlive that expacentancy by two years.

She was retired from Sears Roebuck and Co., a member of the First Baptist Church in Olive Branch, and a member of the Community Bible Study. She loved to cook, crochet and make jewelry.

Melba is survived by her husband, Jimmy Williams; her daughter, Melissa Barefield; two grandchildren, Hunter B. and Abbigail Paige Barefield, all of Bruce, MS. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Jo Addington of Senatobia, Ms., Elizabeth Jane Peeples of Water Valley, Ms.; two brothers, Benny F. Goodman of Oxford, Ms.; and Timothy W. Goodman of Senatobia, Ms., and 8 nieces and nephews. Services were held at Forest Hill East Funeral Home in Memphis, Tn. at 10 A.M., Saturday Feburary 14, 2009.  Her final resting place is at Forest Hill East Cemetery, The Garden Of Peace, Memphis, Tennessee.

Personal Note:
As her younger brother, I will always remember Melba as a
Sweet, Kind, Encouraging, and Peace Maker type person.
