    Michael Truett Brasfield, age 65, of Lakeland, TN., peacefully passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Baptist Trinity Hospice House in Collierville surrounded by the love of family and friends.

    He was born June 28, 1945 in Memphis, TN to the late Harry Brasfield and Eva Mae Crutchfield. Mr. Brasfield was blessed with an infectious personality, kind heart, great sense of humor, strong sense of personal integrity, and a warrior spirit. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, graduated from Westwood High School, Class of 1964, and attended Memphis State University. He served honorably with the 554 Red Horse Construction Squadron in the Air Force in Vietnam.

    After a short period with the railroad, he spent 38 years with the Department of Defense in various capacities at the Naval Air Station, Millington, TN; U.S. Army Installation, Camp Hialeah, Pusan, South Korea, and finally the Naval Air Warfare Center, Point Mugu, CA, where he retired as a Project Manager before returning home to Memphis, TN.

    He was a loving and devoted husband, brother and friend that would always lend a helping hand when he was needed. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Lopez Brasfield; sisters, Charlotte Holt, Mary Canady (Tom), Dell Brewer (Tommy), Dorothy McClure (Bill), Yvonne Ward, Vicki Simonton (Burt), sister, Bobbi Blakeney (deceased), brother, Richard Brasfield (deceased), and many nieces, nephews, and friends, who dearly loved him.

    Visitation was held Sunday, May 22 from 12:30-2 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 3700 Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN. The Memorial service followed at 2 p.m. After the service, interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, located at Oak Grove Baptist Church at 1980 Oak Grove Drive, Moscow, TN.
