Sherman Wilson 71, passed from this life on Monday, November 25, 2013, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born August 1, 1942, in Silerton, TN. to the late Ossie B. and Gladys Lambert Wilson. He was an active member of Gaines Chapel United Methodist Church and the Westwood High Retirees. He graduated from Bolivar High School in 1960 and was a graduate of the University of Memphis and a lifelong fan. He was a teacher, coach and assistant principle with the Memphis City Schools until his retirement. He enjoyed all sports, fishing, hunting and golfing.

Sherman was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shelby Burkeen. He leaves his wife Linda Wilson of Corinth, his daughter, Robbie Understeller (Jeff), his son, Mark Wilson and grandchildren Sara Marion (Will) and Jason Understeller and five great-grandchildren, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; two step- daughters, Cindy Burleson of Memphis and Lisa Cadiere (Brad) of Vero Beach, FL, and four step-grandchildren Brittany Weeks of New York, NY, Lindley Weeks of Tupelo, MS, Kelsey Weeks of Albuquerque, NM, and Austin Cadiere of Vero Beach, FL, his sisters, Shirley Stack (James) of Bolivar, TN, Sylvia Powell (Leon) of Hickory Valley, TN, and his brother, Sherry Wilson of Southaven, MS, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were his nephews: Daniel Burkeen, Daniel Burkeen, Jr., Curtis Stack, Matthew McKee, his long-time friends: David Vaughn, Jimmy Cox, Gordan Evans and Vel Chapman. Honorary pallbearers were be Jordan Stack, Gary Leathers and the Jack Williams Sunday School Class.

Visitation was on Friday, from 9 a.m. until service time at Gaines Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. Friday at Gaines Chapel United Methodist Church with Brother Trey Lambert officiating. Burial followed at Hickory Cemetery in Bolivar, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaines Chapel United Methodist Church 1803 Hwy. 72 W. Corinth, Ms. 38834.
