Coach" Thomas Edwin Harrison, Sr., of Millington, born March 21, 1939 and died August 15, 2010.

        Tommy was born in Sarepta, MS and grew up in Bruce, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. J. S. Harrison and Sybil Inez Brewer. He leaves his loving wife of 47 years, Carol Willis Harrison; daughter, Angie Murphy; son, Tommy Harrison, Jr. (Laura); precious grandchildren, Alanna and Thomas Murphy, who knew him as "Big Daddy"; sisters, Sandra Wright (Dennis), Patricia Moorehead, Juana Hayles (Butch); brothers, Greg Brewer (Rosemary) and Jim Harrison (Cheryl); brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Jan Willis.

       Tommy was a 36 year veteran of Shelby County Schools and taught and coached at 7 different high schools. He started his coaching career at Millington Central High School in 1961 where he met his wife, Carol. He totaled 17 years at Millington Central; was athletic director and head football coach at Whitehaven and Millington; head basketball coach at Westwood and Germantown; head track coach at Millington, Westwood, Whitehaven, and Germantown; head cross-country coach at Germantown; and assisted with football, track, and wrestling at MUS. He spent one year at Collierville as an assistant principal. He finished his 13th year at Memphis University School in May.

       Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 - 8 p.m, with a service on Wednesday at 11 a.m. both at the First United Methodist Church in Millington. Interment followed at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery. The family asks any memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or any charity that supports children or pets.
